PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist lead pressman in press set-up, job set-up, run maintenance, and wash-ups.
- Stage and prepare both raw materials and printed materials for printing.
- Learn and understand proper feeder set-up and operation as well as general press functions.
- Work with the material handler to move raw materials and finished press sheets in and out of the pressroom.
- Maintain and clean press and pressroom and keep pressroom materials and supplies stocked and properly organized.
- Assist lead pressman in performing all maintenance and roller changes as needed
- Perform other duties as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong communication skills
- Strong analytical, mechanical, and trouble shooting skills
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical hand tools
- Good understanding of printing press functions and limitations
- Growing understanding of color hue, print chemistry, and what is required to maintain color balance
- Ability to read and understand written and verbal instruction in English
- Basic math and intermediate level computer skills
- Ability to grow and improve skill sets for advancement into the lead pressmen position
- Demonstrated reliability through attendance, punctuality, and ability to maintain focus
- Ability to work under the leadership of the lead pressmen and function independently as needed
- Ability to work shifts regularly and overtime as needed
- Four to five years of consistent employment may be substituted in lieu of related experience
