Senior Transportation Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: Perform maintenance & repairs of BJU vehicles and equipment

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain various makes and models of vehicles
  • Analyze mechanical and computer problems
  • Diagnose all types of defects in all types of automotive, truck, bus and related equipment.
  • Replace, rebuild and/or repair defective parts on all types of automotive, truck and bus equipment.
  • Drive motorized vehicles

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Knowledge of the repair and overhaul of all types of internal combustion engines, both gasoline and diesel.
  • Knowledge of electricity, electronics, computer systems, sensor operation and actuator operation.
  • Knowledge of antiskid-brake and traction control systems.
  • CDL License (Bus & Tractor/Trailer); ASE certification as a Master Automotive Tech preferred.
  • Ability to work around machines
  • Ability to work above floor level
  • Exposed to dust, fumes, gases
  • Exposed to marked changes in temperature
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather
  • Repetitive hand movement (firm grasp)––both hands
  • Repetitive hand movement (grasp and pull)––both hands

Required Education: Associate's degree (two year college or technical school)
Required Experience: Five or more years related experience
