Secondary School Nurse

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide school-related middle and high school student health care in coordination with BJA’s lead school nurse; 25-hour (school-day) position

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively manage health needs of students during the school day
    • Responding to health needs of students during the school day
    • Effectively communicate with students, parents, teachers, and administration regarding student health needs
    • Manage medical details for overnight field trips
    • Manage emergency medications
    • Graciously maintains school policies
    • Communicates the religious beliefs of BJA to students and student affiliates
    • Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine, and creed of BJA to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJA
  • Effectively manage medical-related records of middle and high students to maintain legal compliance
    • Manage student health forms
    • Manage student immunization forms
    • Maintain accurate charting of medical events

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Pediatric/adolescent nursing experience strongly preferred
  • School nursing experience helpful
  • Comfortable in a digital environment and able to learn new systems as needed
