School of Religion Operations and Curriculum Coordinator

Position Summary: This person supports operational and curriculum priorities and strategic marketing projects for the continued success of the programs in the School of Religion. S/he spearheads tasks related to assessment, curriculum, personnel, marketing, recruitment, and other innovative initiatives. This person is diligent, communicates clearly and accurately, is good at constructive problem-solving with students and internal and external personnel, and is able to relate to day-to-day activities to help accomplish the goals of the School of Religion.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the execution of key events, such as semester kickoff, College Up Close, the Pastors’ Round Table, Leadership Summit, Bell prize, Greek award, Ministerial Award, and school awards ceremony.
  • Track key statistics and write semi-annual board reports.
  • Assist with the annual budget process and manage all financial business.
  • Maintain the School of Religion’s master calendar and interface with other departments as needed.
  • Plan faculty and division chair meetings and record minutes.
  • Maintain office organization and aesthetics and create innovative processes.
  • Maintain the dean’s calendar and meet regularly to plan and meet deadlines.
  • Assist in recruiting and processing new hires for the School of Religion.
  • Manage and maintain all official communications from the School of Religion.
  • Attend chapel, faculty/staff meetings, and departmental meetings and follow BJU Handbook guidelines.
  • Assist the dean as a liaison to pastors, ministry leaders, guests, and prospective students.
  • Assist in marketing programs and recruiting prospective students, including interfacing with Marketing and Video services to develop and maintain media outlets and websites.
  • Interface with the Admissions Department in promoting School of Religion programs and be proficient in using admission tools to track and interact with prospective students.
  • Assist in curriculum development and strategic planning.
  • Assist in planning faculty and graduate assistants’ loads, teaching schedules, and room assignments.
  • Consult with Registrar's Office to ensure student records and annual academic catalog accuracy.
  • Communicate program requirements and updates to advisors and students and assist with registration and class schedules.
  • Coordinate and support all accreditation processes and initiatives.
  • Interface with students as needed and help problem-solve curriculum and scheduling issues.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of BJU's and School of Religion’s academic programs
  • Strong familiarity with web-based delivery and video technology
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must be able to manage time effectively
  • Must be a self-starter and can achieve defined project goals
  • Must be able to organize significant information inflow and build systems for processing workflow
  • Must be able to handle multiple layers of details and have strong communication and follow-through
  • Must be able to build and maintain successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Must have strong attention to detail, adherence to deadlines, and consistent follow through

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Proficiency in Social media Skills (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Web Publishing); ability to learn internal programs, e.g., Slate and Student Central.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: One to two years experience
