ROLE SUMMARY: As a Project Management Specialist at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the Project Management team by fostering a culture of continuous communication and collaboration, encouraging the team to start and finish tasks on time. The role requires an understanding of people, processes and workflow in order to have the best project management fit in contributing to the long-term success of BJU Press.

About the Team: The purpose of the Project Management team is to ensure that projects are planned, executed, and completed successfully. They serve as the central hub, coordinating resources, schedules, and stakeholders to achieve project goals within the constraints of time, budget, and quality. The Project Management team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by fostering growth and development within the department and project teams, enabling them to fulfill their purpose with resilience and an optimistic spirit.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Project manage a minimum of 2 product lines
  • Communicate with management and project team members
  • Collaborate with other project coordinators in regard to shared resources
  • Communicate with vendors and freelance team members
  • Coordinate the implementation of product line plans
  • Lead various team meetings
  • Schedule work tasks and break them down into achievable goals
  • Monitor and updates work progress
  • Identify weak areas and offer solutions
  • Facilitate issue resolution
  • Gain knowledge of the current physical book and video production process and offer solutions for a more efficient process
  • Complete any additional tasks required

 

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES NEEDED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use project management tools
  • Ability to plan, schedule, update, track, and communicate status of projects
  • Ability to adjust, recover, troubleshoot, brainstorm and work under pressure
  • Ability to lead a team to hit due dates
  • Ability to help a team understand and follow established processes
  • Ability to facilitate issue resolution for a team
  • Ability to start/finish reports on time
  • Ability to be proactive in communication and the handling of project challenges
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to create a fun/happy work environment

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ​​​​Bachelor’s degree with 3+ YOE OR Associate’s degree with 4+ YOE or trade certification with  5+ YOE OR equivalent demonstrated aptitude​​​
