IT Service Desk Printer Support Specialist

Position Summary: The Service Desk Printer Support Specialist will provide technology support for BJU, Inc. and BJU Education Group employees’ printers, applications, computers, and phones. The Service Desk Printer Support Specialist will primarily oversee the printer system and printers and assure users’ needs are addressed.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee Service Desk printer team and Service Desk Support queues.
  • Maintain printer systems and printers with BJU’s printer vendor.
  • Provide solutions to user issues with computer hardware, network, printers and software.
  • Research printer and computer issues and offer resolutions based on research.
  • Maintain documentation about issues and solutions.
  • Train and develop student employees in their professional growth.
  • Ensure Service Desk processes are consistently followed.
  • Respond quickly and competently to user requests.
  • Provide consistent communication to users regarding their requests.
  • Provide guidance to student workers.
  • Coordinate and lead set-up of annual/special events and department moves.
  • Serve as back-up for fellow Service Desk employees.
  • Participate in project teams, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to lead others
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to take initiative in solving problems
  • Exhibited knowledge of operating system platforms such as Windows and Apple
  • Basic knowledge of LAN, hubs, switches and network configuration
  • Some experience in technical printer and computer support
  • Ability to interface with users and discuss issues in language users will understand
  • Advanced knowledge of printer hardware and software components
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software components
  • Advanced working knowledge of basic office and non-standard applications
  • Advanced troubleshooting capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Desire to teach others about technology

Certificates & Licenses:  Valid Driver’s License

Required Education: Associate's Degree
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
