Press Distribution Center Assistant Shipping Supervisor

Position Summary: As the Assistant Shipping Supervisor you are responsible for operating in a backup role to the Shipping Supervisor.  This involves helping in daily order fulfillment, and for performing all shipping functions in his absence.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process all international and domestic USPS mail shipments
  • Maintain adequate funding for USPS shipping accounts (Indicia/Dazzle)
  • Assist in preparing/loading outbound shipments for USPS, UPS/TForce and other daily shipments
  • Assist in researching/resolving weight verification issues
  • Assist Customer Service personnel in researching/resolving shipping problems
  • Supervise customer pick-up window
  • Assist with picking/packing when needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment
  • Work required over-time (evenings/Saturdays) during peak season (May-Sept) or other times as necessary
  • Assist Shipping Supervisor in the following areas as needed, or perform these in absence of Supervisor:
  • Assists Supervisor with other duties as needed
    • Perform all daily opening and closing procedures
    • Manage the release and completion of orders
    • Process international shipments and prepare them for pickup
    • Insure that all RUSH orders are completed by end of day
    • Regularly check on "problem orders" to resolve issues with Customer Service/IT
    • Monitor automated systems and equipment for problems and report them to appropriate personnel
  • Assist Supervisor with other duties as needed

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail/ability to understand procedures/policies quickly
  • Ability to multi-task while remaining focused
  • Ability to prioritize and delegate
  • Tenacity and perseverance
  • Prior experience/familiarity with shipping/receiving procedures beneficial
  • Prior experience in any fast-paced fulfillment environment beneficial
