Producer Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:  BJU Press Digital Producer Specialists help design, plan, cast, coordinate, direct, and sometimes act in short educational videos. Original content ranges from describing nouns to defining cryogenics and keeps the job interesting and educational. Our producers typically hold degrees in theatre arts (or similar degrees in production), are excellent collaborators, are well-organized, and have a heart for making Christian education visually engaging through video.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all design aspects of video segment production come together to make a unified and meaningful whole that accomplishes the teachers’ educational goals by given deadlines
  • Each producer specialist is assigned to a course team to design for given segment approaches to educational content and, upon approval, ensures the actualization of the courses’ scripts.
  • Works collaboratively with the writers, video specialists, teachers, and other artists
  • Designs (or works with Graphic Designers to create) openers and master slides (using PowerPoint and Adobe design programs) with input from video specialist, writers, and other team members
  • Secures and records accurate image and prop permissions/acknowledgments (thru Permissions dept.) for every segment
  • Coordinates with other designers (set and prop artists, makeup artist, sound artist/composer)
  • Meets needs for the designs, vision, and deadlines for course segments
  • Communicates with actors as primary liaison, sets up recording times, keeps accurate records (project management charts, release forms, etc.)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in drama; working knowledge of dramatic terms and principles
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well with others in a creative environment
  • Self-motivated in developing creative ideas and meeting deadlines
  • Basic understanding of BJU Press educational philosophy
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in speech communication, preferrably theatre or cinema
  • Background in education beneficial, but not required
  • Extensive experience with acting and directing
  • This is an on-site position.
