Post Office Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the sorting and distribution of in-coming and out-going mail. Assist Manager in all department functions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervision and help as needed in all mail clerk duties.
  • Assist as needed in “day-to-day” Post Office functions.
  • Assist with forwarding and miss-delivered parcels/mail.
  • Assist in managing inventory of office supplies.
  • Develop and maintain accounting, bookkeeping, records, and reporting.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating of computer records and files.
  • Assist in the training, development, and management of all employees.
  • Responsible for scheduling of all mail clerks and mail clerk supervisors.
  • Assist in the hiring of mail clerks and mail clerk supervisors.
  • Assist with customer sales, problems, and corrective services.
  • Problem solving with customer and worker conflicts.
  • Assist manager in primary job functions.
  • May be required to drive company vehicle.
  • Attend, organize, and conduct monthly departmental meeting requirement.
  • Assist carriers in parcel pickups and deliveries.
  • Assist in purchasing supplies/ordering.
  • Assist in periodic performance evaluations of employees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field
  • Previous experience in customer service type environment preferred
  • Previous experience with cash register and money handling preferred
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role over other workers
  • General knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping
  • Background in leadership/decision-making role

  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently as well as with fellow employees
  • Ability to work with and help others in a fair and courteous manner with a variety of individuals – high degree of professionalism
  • Ability to make independent judgements and decisions
  • Attention to detail with numbers and names
  • Good aptitude in the use of numbers and alphabetization
  • Ability to stay focused during routine and repetitive work
  • Self-motivation to stay on task and fully complete tasks
  • Ability to follow instructions carefully
  • Ability to perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards within assigned time
  • Ability to make effective use of time – effective planning skills
  • Ability to quickly make repetitive movements in sorting mail
  • Ability to lift safely a minimum of 50lbs. without assistance or heavier items with help
  • Ability to learn and keep up-to-date on changes, innovations, skills, and knowledge
  • Microsoft Office
  • General computer skills including; Word, Excel, and Access databases helpful

OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks.
  • No back problems.
