Software Services Developer (Student)

POSITION SUMMARY: Entry level position for students to gain experience and knowledge of computer programming concepts and techniques in a real-world setting with the goal of becoming a contributor in providing software solutions including design, code, and testing.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plays an active role in the design, development and support of various software applications used by the academic business units at Bob Jones University
  • Writes program specifications as needed from business requirements as well as converts designs and specifications into computer code
  • Provides unit and system level test planning, scripting and execution to validate solutions
  • Provides work estimates, schedules and progress reports as needed

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University or Bob Jones Academy
  • Desire and eagerness to learn
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Good communication skills: both written and oral
  • Ability to work well with others

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Understanding of Boolean logic
  • Understanding of basic computer programming concepts
  • Experience with java, C#, or python programming languages
  • Experience with JavaScript, CSS, and HTML
  • Experience with development software (Eclipse, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code, or Pycharm)
