POSITION SUMMARY:  The international orientation team leader is to assist the Center of Global Opportunities and First-year Experience departments with International New Student Orientation. The leaders’ primary responsibilities are to the new international students as they ensure they have an excellent, safe, and Christ-honoring experience. Leaders will report directly to the Center for Global Opportunities and First-year Experience departments. They should be available to arrive early to finish preparation and prepare for leader training.


  • Must be available for set-up on August 12-13, training August 14 and work August 15-20.
  • Guide new students – Leaders will live in the residence halls with new students and will ensure that they have a safe and Christ-honoring experience in the residence halls. They will ensure that students arrive at required activities on time and know how to navigate the BJU campus.
  • Speaking or advising students during student workshops/sessions.
  • Spiritual leaders – Leaders will be responsible for evening devotions in the residence halls. This will include presenting devotional challenges, leading discussions around topics, and leading in prayer groups. Additionally leaders will make themselves available to assist new students with spiritual needs as they are presented.
  • Assist the First-year Experience and Center for Global Opportunity departments with any needs related to the specific curriculum.
  • Ambassador for BJU – Ensure that new students have an excellent experience and to use the opportunity to promote BJU.
  • Other duties as assigned – Being an orientation leader means that you are flexible and have a servant’s heart. Leaders may be called on to perform other duties that benefit the BJU orientation experience but are outside of the specific duties listed above.
  • Must (occasionally) lift/carry and/or push/pull up to 100 lbs.


  • Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University or recent alumni
  • Consistent, Christ-honoring testimony
  • Flexibility/adaptability/teachable spirit
  • Ability to connect with students
  • Communicate well in a classroom setting
  • Working knowledge of BJU academic programs & opportunities
  • Affinity for International students
