POSITION SUMMARY: The Student Career Mentor serves student guests of the Career Center by providing guidance in various career preparation skills including, but not limited to, resume preparation, job interviewing, job searching, and personal branding.


  • Primarily provides career planning help to students (no prior experience necessary)
  • Cultivates a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the Career Center
  • Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information
  • Assists as needed at annual career fairs and employer recruiting events
  • Assists with office administrative functions as needed
  • Other duties as designated by the supervisor


  • Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University
  • Must connect naturally and warmly with others
  • Ability to communicate well in both spoken and written communications
  • Strong attention to detail and desire for excellence
  • Ability to work independently without supervision
  • Proficient in MS Word
  • Comfortable with general computer navigation
  • Ability to work 5-10 hours per week primarily in late afternoon or evenings
  • Must (occassionally) lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and push/pull up to 25 lbs.
