Child Development Center Assistant

  • As CDC Assistant, you will assist the teacher in the supervision and management of the classroom and supervise student workers when teachers are not present.
  • This is a 12-month Staff GA position.


  • Assist in the developing, planning and implementing of a daily curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and provides social, emotional, physical, cognitive and spiritual experiences for children in the classroom
  • Follow proper safety guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of children at all times
  • Perform assigned responsibilities, duties and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques and standards with minimal supervision
  • Communicates the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
  • Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU


  • Must be 20 years of age
  • Successfully complete SLED and FBI checks
  • Must be capable of maintaining a positive attitude, displaying a caring concern toward children, parents and coworkers
  • Must have at least 9 months experience in a licensed or registered childcare.


  • Undergraduate Degree


  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices of young children
  • Ability to provide guidance for young children
  • Ability to work with children and be able to move quickly; to assist and supervise young children; to lift children, equipment and supplies, and to hear and see at a distance
  • Ability to model positive Christ like attitude and demeanor with the children in their care     

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES (upon being hired):

  • Fifteen clock hours of training annually pertaining to Growth and Development, Curriculum, and Health and Safety
  • CPR/First Aid certificate
  • Bloodborne Pathogens and Right to Know Training as required by federal law
  • Physical and PPD (TB Test)

Other Requirements:

  • Available to work from 4-5:30PM M-F. 

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree; Must be enrolled in post-graduate studies at BJU
Required Experience: One to two years related experience required
