POSITION SUMMARY: Performs maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems. Install and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration. Must be enrolled in post-graduate studies at BJU to be considered.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Performs a variety of complicated tasks
- May lead and direct the work of others
- Typically reports to a supervisor or manager
- work with technicians on maintenance and service work
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Generally required knowledge includes basic knowledge of HVAC and general maintained. not required but welcomed knowledge includes HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
- Effective interpersonal skills to properly represent BJU in an ethical and professional manner
- Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people
- Leadership skills to support the activities of Mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment on a job site
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
- Professional in appearance and presentation
- Effective in oral and written communication
- a learning spirit that humble and seeks help willing
- is purpose driven has a plan for after grad school
- Microsoft Office
- Any HVAC related certificates or licenses are welcome but not required
OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Drive a motorized vehicle
- Work around machines
- Work above floor level
- Exposed to dust, fumes, gases
- Exposed to marked changes in temperature
- Work outdoors in varying weather
- Repetitive foot movement to operate foot controls
- Repetitive hand movements (fine grasp, fine manipulation, grasp and pull)
- Frequent head and neck rotations
