Exercise Science Graduate Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:  This is a 9-month graduate assistant position responsible for teaching Exercise Science laboratory activities, overseeing Human Performance and Fitness & Wellness Laboratories, and conducting on-going research projects. Positions begins August 2021.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching assistance, including design, preparation, execution and grading of laboratory activities in variety of Kinesiology courses.
  • Instructs and supervises students in the appropriate usage of common laboratory equipment and tests in the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL).
  • Provides help for undergraduate students with their competencies pertaining to these assessment techniques during the open lab hours.
  • Conducts human performance testing, and coordinates payment for testing services.
  • Conducts community engaged work such as Fall Prevention program and Exercise is Medicine.
  • Identifies, communicates, and rectifies laboratory maintenance concerns.
  • Maintains open and frequent communication with HPL director and other Exercise Science faculty regarding laboratory updates, equipment, policies, procedures, and announcements.
  • Works in consultation with the HPL Director on major changes to the laboratory involving funding/purchases/lab budget, marketing materials, contracts/payments, policies, etc.
  • Assists Exercise Science faculty with human subject research-related tasks which include collecting data in the field, processing, analyzing and interpreting data, completing writing tasks relevant to the various research project, and present research findings.
  • Collaborates with Exercise Science faculty on research outputs, including manuscript publication and abstracts presentation in regional and national conferences.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A knowledge of Kinesiology at the undergraduate level is required.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree; must be enrolled in post-graduate studies at Bob Jones University
