Student Engagement & Success Graduate Assistant (9-Month)

POSITION SUMMARY: The Student Engagement & Success GA is an enthusiastic partner with the Student Engagement & Success team by promoting student success through events, classes, residence hall initiatives, and resources provided to the students, faculty and staff. This is a 9-month academic position. 


  • Provide programming and organizational planning and training for First-year events (i.e. Welcome Weeks, First-year Seminar and other First-year events.)
  • Provide support for the residence hall initiative (Freshman Floor) through training, programming, events, and mentoring.
  • Provide student support through the Acadmic Resource Center, First-year Seminar Pathways Course, Study Groups, Testing Center, Tutor Referral Service, Writing Center, and other student supports as assigned by the Director. 
  • Speak for any needed student support events or to tour groups about the Student Engagement & Success purpose and avenues for support.
  • Assist in the Academic Resource Office with student training or scheduling.
  • Assist in the Testing Center with testing protocol, data management and ensuring academic integrity.
  • Update and assist with maintaining social media platforms.
  • Engage prospective students through recruiting efforts.
  • Actively promote Student Engagement & Success to students, faculty, staff and parents.

  • Effective working skills demonstrated by good communication skills, good organizational skills, the ability to hand routine clerical duties, a willingness to learn new skills, self-motivation, and initiative.
  • Effective people skills demonstrated by friendliness, physical and emotional energy, an attitude of servant-leadership, and a spirit of helpfulness.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word


  • Must be able to constantly bend, sit, and stand.
  • Must be able to frequently handle/finger, reach outward, walk, lift/carry up to 50 lbs., and push/pull up to 12 lbs. 
  • Must be able to occasionally climb, crawl, reach above shoulder, push/pull and lift/carry up to 100 lbs. 

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree; Must be enrolled in post-graduate studies at BJU
