Instructional Design Specialist

Position Summary: Assist in the development and execution of strategies and best practices for the design and creation of digital education content.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Aid in identifying, implementing, and managing proven instructional design strategies across all areas of Press Digital to allow for the sound design, development, and presentation of digital content.
  • Help to develop a general system of accountability for all content creators to ensure that instructional design principles are being used effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Design Supervisor regarding instructional design plans and an overall strategy for Press Digital content development.
  • Develop and relay recommendations for future courses and projects to other managers particularly as it relates to the creation of content

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • General understanding of educational philosophy, pedegogy, and instructional design principles
  • An understanding of the target audience
  • Ability to develop educationally sound lesson plans
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Good communicaton skills, both oral and written
  • Organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to explain new content clearly and logically
  • Ability to integrate biblical principles in subject matter
  • A broad knowledge of the use of critical thinking skills in instructional strategies
  • Demonstrate knowledge and basic skill in visual art and graphic design
  • Experience teaching BJU Press curriculum in a classroom or other education-related setting preferred

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Photoshop, InDesign
