Pilot in Command

POSITION SUMMARY:  Serve as pilot in command of corporate aircraft to transport personnel, equipment and supplies to various locations under day, night, and instrument conditions; and conducts flights in accordance with FAA, ICAO, and company regulations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Pilot company aircraft to transport personnel, equipment and supplies to various locations under day, night, and instrument conditions; and conducts flights in accordance with FAA, ICAO, and company regulations. (Must be properly certificated and qualified according to governmental and company regulations.)
  • Exercise extreme care and judgment while in flight, being alert to cope with irregularities and adverse weather conditions; determines appropriate courses of action to ensure safety of passengers and company property
  • Acquaint passengers with use of aircraft cabin equipment and emergency procedures; sees to their comfort while in aircraft; and assists them with baggage and surface transportation.
  • Study weather information in advance of flights; determines advisability of the flight; utilizes information to select routings, altitudes, and intermediate stops for passenger comfort and safety.
  • Checks airport and airway data that may affect conduct of flights; and completes and files flight plans with FAA facilities.
  • Supervise loading of passengers, baggage and freight; determines that aircraft performance data and weight and balance are within certifiable limits.
  • Coordinate flight planning with operational and scheduling personnel to advise passengers of arrival and departure times and weather information and to resolve other passenger requirements.
  • Complete pre-flight inspection of aircraft; checks all consumables such as fuel, oil and anti-icing fluids to ascertain adequate quantities; ascertains that all normal and emergency supplies and equipment are placed on board; and determines that aircraft is airworthy and prepared for flight in accordance with FAA and company regulations.
  • Ensure servicing, storing and proper care and protection of company aircraft and equipment while away from home base.
  • Issues purchase orders and signs for fees and services contracted; conducts post-flight inspection of aircraft; and reports malfunction and operating data to the maintenance section.
  • Complete and file FAA records and reports; completes aircraft and flight reports; and maintains personal flight log and records.
  • Study and maintain thorough knowledge of FAA regulations, airport landing areas, air traffic control procedures, communications frequencies and techniques.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of aircraft flight operations and systems manuals.
  • Study and familiarize self with available information on current developments, techniques, and procedures in the aviation industry.
  • Adhere to directions contained in flight operations related manuals, and related procedures.
  • Annual training required for aircraft in use – currently Lear 45
  • Additional aviation related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by supervisor.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Professional in appearance and presentation
  • Effective in oral and written communication
  • Abilities:
    • May be routinely exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
    • May be required to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, climb ladders, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged time periods with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
    • Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
    • Read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions, as required by job duties.
    • Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
    • Effectively communicate in Business English language.
    • Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
    • Pull, push, carry, lift or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50lbs or more during the work shift, with the use of Company provided “reach assistance technology” or “movement assist technology” (fork-lifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dolly’s, robotics reach equipment, people movers etc.), as required by job duties.
  • Work Experience and Certifications:
    • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job
    • Airline Transport pilot certificate
    • Able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class I Medical Certification
    • Restricted Radio Operator License
    • 5 years of corporate flight experience, Part 135 experience (charter), Part 121 experience (airlines), military flight experience or any combination that equals 5 years of experience.
    • Single pilot operations experience desired
  •  Certificates & Licenses:
    • Minimum of 4,000 total flying hours as pilot in command
    • Minimum of 3000 hours in multi-engine aircraft as pilot in command
    • Lear 45 experience desirable
    • Flight time must be verifiable via logbook entries or equivalent documentation.
  • Other Requirements: 
    • At least 500 hours in a jet powered multi-engine aircraft

Required Education: Bachelors or better
Required Experience: 5 or more years of related experience
