Associate Registrar for Transfer Students

The Associate Registrar for Transfer will be engaged in the recruiting and retention of undergrad transfer students. The recruiting aspects of this position includes direct recruiting at community colleges as well as processing credit transfer evaluations and potential graduation pathways for prospects. Once transfer students are admitted, the Associate Registrar will be responsible for transfer student events and advising students during their first semester at BJU.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Registrar Office related

  • Process credit transfers from prospects, applicants, admitted, and enrolled students
  • Verifies official and unofficial transcripts
  • Works with deans (or their delegate) to approve credit transfers and course substitutions for graduation pathways
  • Regularly reviews the credit equivalency courses listed on the BJU webpage
  • Grow the credit equivalency courses and institutions to include the top ten from which we recruit
  • Coordinates transfer work requests (future/potential credits evaluated) for current student and high school prospects

Student Engagement & Success related

  • Works in conjunction with Deans and Division Chairs to advise transfer students during their first semester
  • Is an academic coach for transfer students not making satisfactory academic progress during any semester at BJU
  • Participates in the summer orientation transfer track
  • Participates in transfer student Welcome Week activities
  • Occasionally attends conferences on advising as requested
  • Coordinates transfer student events during the semester, optional transfer seminars, events promoting social interaction, etc.)

Enrollment Recruiting related

  • Travels to SC community colleges to recruit for the Admission department
  • Maintains the transfer student inquiry pools with the Admission department
  • Regularly reviews the transfer student communication plan and schedule with the Marketing department
  • Stays current on best practices for recruiting transfer students
  • Regularly reviews the BJU website and recommends changes pertaining to transfer students

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to make effective oral and written presentations
  • Ability to manage details and keep records
  • Knowledge of BJU academic programs
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Required Education: Master's Degree
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
