Director of Admission

Position Summary: Oversee the personnel and activities of the Office of Admission. Manage the admission process from contact with prospects through acceptance and enrollment/reenrollment. Collaborate with marketing activities directed at prospective students.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assess admission and enrollment trends, and communicate trends to appropriate administrative personnel
  • Collect and review current admission related data and determine if course corrections need to be implemented
  • Understand the recruitment cycle and implement appropriate strategies during the cycle
  • Provide motivation and inspiration to the Admission staff
  • Review current admission processes for improved efficiency or effectiveness within the funnel
  • Monitor workflow to maintain timely and appropriate contacts with prospects and applicants
  • Make general admittance decisions of applicants, and chair Admission Committee discussions regarding applicants with circumstances of concern.
  • Oversee the design of forms used in the information gathering process
  • Coordinate with other departments the dissemination of appropriate information to accepted students
  • Collaborate with the Marketing department about admission marketing projects
  • Oversee the hiring of Admission personnel
  • Oversee ongoing training of admission counselors
  • Oversee Hospitality Team Manager in his/her role with the Welcome Center, Student Ambassador program, etc.
  • Oversee the collection of future reservation information for presently enrolled students
  • Communicates the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
  • Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Required—Master’s degree in an area relating to education
  • Preferred—Office management experience
  • Preferred—Experience in marketing activities
  • Five or more years related experience

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Administrative skills
  • Knowledge of the skills needed for academic success and the ability to assess them accurately
  • Working knowledge of marketing principles
  • Effective in written and oral communication
  • Professional in appearance and presentation
  • Committed to personal professional development; active participation in professional organizations

Required Education: Master's degree in an area relating to education
Required Experience: Five or more years related experience
