HR Staffing Assistant

Position Summary: Are you a detail-oriented person who has great customer service skills? Consider joining the HR Staffing team! The person in this role executes many behind the scene details as well as interacts with student applicants, hiring managers, and new employees to create a great hiring experience for our BJU students.This position will begin as a part-time (25 hour/week) role with the possibility of transitioning to full-time. (Initial hours would be 7:45am-1pm.)

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The HR Staffing Assistant executes recruiting strategies in support of organizational student employment goals and manages various aspects of the hiring process to assure a great experience for our student employees. 

  • Executing Recruiting Strategies
    • Manage the pool of student applicants
      • Vet applicants as they are received
      • Route them to hiring managers for review
      • Assist students in the process to help them find open positions that match their interests
    • Communicate with managers to establish rapport and to keep current knowledge of their needs
    • Generate and implement creative ideas for generating interest in student employment
  • Managing Recruiting Process
    • Manage full cycle recruiting process for students (applications, offer letters, and onboarding)
    • Work closely with Hiring Managers to maximize effectiveness of recruiting process.
    • Review job descriptions.
    • Manage communication with student applicants.
    • Provide regular updates and feedback to managers.
    • Ensure regulatory aspects of the full cycle recruitment process are compliant with federal and state legislation.
    • Create a positive experience for student applicants during the application and onboarding process.
  • Manage the front desk in the HR office welcoming all visitors to the office, assisting them with general questions, and referring them to other HR team members when appropriate. 
  • Essential Duties and Record Keeping
    • Maintain all pertinent applicant data in the Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
    • Assist in performing reference and background checks for potential employees
    • Perform other special projects as assigned.
    • Actively participate in all staffing related activities
  • Communicates the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
  • Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate and connect well with college students
  • Initiative to determine what needs to be done and move forward to complete the task
  • Ability to greet applicants and employees and make them welcome when they enter the HR office

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree or Related Experience preferred
Required Experience: One to two years related experience preferred
