Position Summary:  Plan and provide instruction in the areas of language arts, math, science, social studies and Bible.



  • Provide large group, small group, and individual instruction in a specific field of related arts
  • Communicate with parents and school personnel regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and related arts teachers in the planning of procedures, activities, programs, and instruction for the class and grade levels
  • Develop/maintain curriculum objectives and daily lesson plans
  • Fulfill various supervisory duties with large and small groups of students throughout the day
  • Monitor student progress in the areas of academics, behavior, social skills, growth and development and remediate as needed
  • Communicate with classroom teachers and parents through meetings, conferences, notes, and other means as appropriate
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and maintain order among the students
  • Communicates the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
  • Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU


  • Ability to establish and maintain good rapport and working relationships with administration, colleagues, students, and parents
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum in subject area being taught
  • Ability to develop and facilitate short and long-range plans
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum in all subject areas
  • Willingness/ability to use a variety of technology in the academic setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (grades K4-2) or Elementary Education (grades 1-6)
  • Master’s degree preferred
