POSITION SUMMARY: Prepares and delivers educational content primarily within the framework of distance learning video courses but also across a variety of electronic platforms and in print.


  • Generally works to adapt print curriculum to develop video lessons for distance learning courses in the field of social studies.
  • Works with the Education Senior Manager, the Production Manager, and the Instructional Design Supervisor to determine the academic design for an assigned distance learning course.
  • Works with a team of specialists--including a teacher assistant, artists, instructional designers, project coordinators, producers, video technicians, and quality control--to develop an engaging distance learning course that provides a positive user experience while promoting a biblical worldview and sound academics.
  • Writes lessons designed for single-student studio presentations based on the BJU Press educational materials.
  • Records video lessons providing one-on-one instruction in a studio setting.
  • Assists specialists to adapt educational elements for print handouts and online streaming course use.
  • Assists online specialists and marketing with occasional promotional events or correspondence.


  • General understanding of the BJU Press educational philosophy
  • General knowledge of social studies subject matter (grades 6-12) to be taught
  • An understanding of the target audience (primarily elementary)
  • Ability to develop educationally sound lesson plans
  • Ability to explain new content clearly and logically
  • Ability to integrate biblical principles in subject matter
  • Ability to model and teach critical thinking
  • Ability to speak clearly, fluently, and naturally on camera (applicants will be screen tested prior to being considered for the position)
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Collaborate with a design team in which each team member has specific responsibilities, each providing an important component towards completing a video course
  • Good communciaton skills, both oral and written
  • Organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Master's degree in education or a related field preferred

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: 1-2 years
