Press Producer Specialist (Student)

POSITION SUMMARY: We're looking for part time Producer Specialists to assist other Producer Specialists for about 10 hours/week with design, planning, casting, coordinating, directing, and sometimes acting in short educational videos. Original content ranges from describing nouns to defining cryogenics and keeps the job interesting and educational. Our Producers typically hold degrees in theatre arts (or similar degrees in production), are excellent collaborators, are well-organized, and have a heart for making Christian education visually engaging through video.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Helps ensure all design aspects of video segment production come together to make a unified and meaningful whole that accomplishes the teachers’ educational goals by given deadlines
  • May work collaboratively with writers, video specialists, teachers, and other artists
  • May design for video openers and master slides (using PowerPoint and Adobe design programs) with input from a producer, video specialist, writer, and other production team members
  • Secures and records accurate image and prop permissions/acknowledgments (thru Permissions dept.) for every segment
  • May coordinate with other designers (set and prop artists, makeup artist, sound artist/composer)
  • May communicate with actors as primary liaison, set up recording times,
  • Records progress (project management charts, release forms, etc.)
  • Should be currently working on a Bachelor's or master's degree in speech communication, preferably theatre or cinema
  • Background with education beneficial, but not required
  • Experience with acting, directing, and designing desired

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in drama; working knowledge of dramatic terms and principles
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work well with others in a creative environment
  • Self-motivated in developing creative ideas and meeting deadlines
  • Basic understanding of BJU Press educational philosophy
  • Time management and organizational skills
