IT Support Specialist

Position Summary:  The IT Support Specialist will serve as the first contact for IT support by answering questions and assisting with technology issues via phone and email. The IT Support Specialist will provide Tier 1 technology support for computers, applications, printers, and phones. This position will escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2 support.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive inbound calls and emails from faculty, staff, and students
  • Provide Tier 1 technology support
  • Respond quickly and completely to employees’ requests
  • Provide solutions to employee issues with hardware, network, applications, printers, and phones
  • Connect to users’ computers to assist with resolving issues
  • Maintain documentation about problems and solutions
  • Ensure processes and procedures are consistently followed
  • Maintain consistent communication with employees regarding their requests
  • Escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2 support
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent listening skills with ability to understand concerns
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Problem solving / troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willingness and aptitude to learn new technology
  • Some knowledge of computer systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Technical computer support experience preferred but not required

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Mac OS
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint

Required Education: Associate's degree
Required Experience: 1-2 years related experience
