IT Software Licensing Specialist

Position Summary: The Software Licensing Specialist will support, maintain, and administer licenses for software and application services and products across BJU. Inc. and the BJU Educational Group. This includes overseeing managing a repository of application documentation and media, approving software application requests, ensuring licensing compliance in both organizations to mitigate risk. Packaging software installations for deployment through client management platform.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and maintain software license compliance to mitigate risk and provide good stewardship.
  • Evaluate and document software licensing terms and conditions.
  • Manage and monitor software concurrent licensing usage.
  • Manage software licensing documentation for compliance.
  • Establish software standards for BJU, Inc. and BJU Educational Group.
  • Establish and maintain documentation for all software processes.
  • Implement software asset management best practices appropriate for our environment.
  • Work with IT Procurement to secure new software purchases and annual software maintenance.
  • Interface with software vendors to ensure financial stewardship of software purchases.
  • Assure non-production system software reclamations.
  • Package software for delivery through client management platform.
  • Oversee all aspects of any software compliance audits in conjunction with IT management.
  • Assure reports requested by IT management are accurate and current.
  • Provide input on software requests.
  • Participate on the contract review team
  • Participate in projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to analyze details and confidently make decisions as a result of such analysis
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral
  • Ability to understand the legal implications of software licensing agreements
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions
  • Aptitude for and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve processes through automation
  • Understanding of strategic goals and objectives

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
