General Projects Technician

Position Summary: Perform building maintenance and repair work with an emphasis on masonry/concrete

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to follow and complete instructions
  • Ability to apply common sense when working on solutions
  • Trouble-shoot and correct building or system failures
  • Discernment to contact supervisor concerning transfer of work demanding time or skill beyond the scope of this department
  • Call-in duty required and some overtime as schedule demands
  • Occasionally serve as backup for the supervisor in his absence

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Mechanical skills in variety of areas; willingness to learn other disciplines
  • Expertise in one area is helpful, but not required
  • Courteous communication skills with the clients, public and fellow workers
  • Heavy Equipment operation experience is a must.
  • Trade school helpful
  • Building and building repair experience
  • Lack of experience compensated by high mechanical aptitude or additional education or certification
  • Licensing in area of expertise encouraged
  • Good attitude
  • Clean, well-groomed appearance

Required Education: High School Graduate or GED
Required Experience: Three to four years related experience
