General Ledger Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:  Assists with reconciling general ledger, initiates month end procedures and communicates with departments that have financial questions.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze various GL accounts including liability accounts between companies, insurance liability accounts, purchasing card liability accounts, etc.
  • Month end closing: Prepare journal entries and process in Accounting System for both entities.
  • Create invoices between Subsidiaries and process payments.
  • Conduct periodic audits of general ledger accounts with reconciliations for both entities.
  • FACTS: Handling month end for the Academy with journal entries, reconciling GL accounts and amortization.
  • Assisting departments with reclassifying journal entries. Handling accounting questions from departments via the AccountingDept email box.
  • Recording credit card fees on the 15th of the month
  • Assisting with other accounting functions, etc.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of reconciliation procedures
  • Productive computer skills
  • Good people skills
  • Effective in oral and written business communication
  • Self-starter, maintains strict confidentiality, professional in appearance and demeanor
  • Microsoft Office
  • Quick Books

 

 

Required Education: Bachelors
Required Experience: 1-2 years related experience
