Event Office Resource Manager (GA)

Position Summary: The Event Office Resource Manager Graduate Assistant should be a successful and enthusiastic event planner that can produce an event from conception through to completion.  Event coordinator responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service while organizing simultaneous events for several organizations that meet quality expectations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Liaise with clients to identify their needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Communication skill (both phone and email) to be used with internal and external clients and vendors
  • Proficiency in working with all types of tools for use with assembling large scale event elements
  • Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality
  • Help plan and execute large scale campus events
  • Organize, inventory and maintain event storage facilities and event deliveries
  • Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations
  • Hire and manage student event work crew
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and trouble shoot any emerging problems on the day of the event.
  • Conduct pre- and post- event evaluations and report on outcomes
  • Deliver, load/unload, and move items from place to place across campus
  • Maintain departmental vehicle
  • Maintain inventory of event management banquet supplies
  • 12 month GA position

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program at BJU
  • Must have a passion for organizing events and proven event management experience
  • Must be burdened for the promotion/recruitment of the university
  • Must be aggressive, but also a team player
  • Must be skilled in communication and negotiation, handling several situations and people at the same time and with aplomb and grace. Communication skills also including writing, proof reading and speaking.
  • Must be able to problem solve quickly
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects independently
  • Must have excellent time management, being able to prioritize tasks
  • Must be calm under pressure
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
