Design Assistant

Position Summary: As a Design Assistant at BJU Press you will play a supporting role on the design team through additional research, file preparation, and production assistance. This role provides the opportunity to help shape the student and teacher experience from a biblical worldview.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with and support the Lead Designer and Design team on decisions related to the look and feel of a product (e.g. photo choices, illustration styles, typography choices, layout, covers, icons, infographics, etc.)
  • Research illustrators based on Lead Designer and Design team concepts and decisions
  • Work with Permissions to facilitate the vetting of photo choices
  • Edit and prepare digital art and photo files for review
  • Assist in the creation of infographics and other design elements
  • Assist with various departmental production tasks
  • Develop or improve skills required for advancement to a Designer or Production Design role

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic photo editing knowledge
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Self-starter
  • Pro-active
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to positively interact with creative employees, vendors, and other team members
  • A passion for continuous improvement
