As a Design Assistant at BJU Press you will play a supporting role on the design team through additional research, file preparation, and production assistance. This role provides the opportunity to help shape the student and teacher experience from a biblical worldview.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with and support the Lead Designer and Design team on decisions related to the look and feel of a product (e.g. photo choices, illustration styles, typography choices, layout, covers, icons, infographics, etc.)
- Research illustrators based on Lead Designer and Design team concepts and decisions
- Work with Permissions to facilitate the vetting of photo choices
- Edit and prepare digital art and photo files for review
- Assist in the creation of infographics and other design elements
- Assist with various departmental production tasks
- Develop or improve skills required for advancement to a Designer or Production Design role
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Basic photo editing knowledge
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills

- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication skills and an ability to positively interact with creative employees, vendors, and other team members
- A passion for continuous improvement
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite focused on Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
