Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motived Cybersecurity Specialist to join our team. As a Cybersecurity Specialist, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our data, systems, and networks from cyber threats. You will be responsible for implementing security measures, conducting risk assessments, monitoring systems for vulnerabilities, and responding to security incidents. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement cybersecurity strategies:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and establish comprehensive cybersecurity strategies and policies.
- Identify potential security vulnerabilities and develop proactive measures to mitigate risks.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practices to ensure effective security measures.
- Perform security assessments and audits:
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify weaknesses in systems, networks, and applications.
- Perform penetration testing and ethical hacking to assess the resilience of our infrastructure.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain security controls:
- Deploy and configure security technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, antivirus software, and encryption tools.
- Monitor and analyze security logs, traffic patterns, and security events to detect potential threats or breaches.
- Manage access controls and permissions, ensuring least privilege principles are followed.
- Incident response and management:
- Develop and maintain an incident response plan to efficiently address and mitigate cybersecurity incidents.
- Investigate security incidents, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve security incidents and minimize their impact.
- Security awareness and training:
- Conduct cybersecurity training sessions and oversee our online cybersecurity training resources to educate employees on best practices, security policies, and potential risks.
- Foster a security-conscious culture and promote adherence to cybersecurity protocols throughout the organization.
- Regularly communicate cybersecurity updates, threats, and trends to raise awareness among stakeholders.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Extensive knowledge of network protocols, security architectures, and defense-in-depth strategies.
- Proficiency in vulnerability scanning tools, penetration testing methodologies, and security incident response frameworks.
- Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., GLBA, GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS) and experience ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically and strategically in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Proven experience as a Cybersecurity Specialist or similar role, with a strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices is highly desirable.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, Security+ CE) are highly desirable.
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: Three to four years related experience
