Customer Account Services Team Supervisor

Position Summary: Do you enjoy problem solving and helping others? The BJU Press Customer Account Services Team (CAST) is a team that is mission focused, provides a pleasant work environment, and offers some schedule flexibility. The CAST Supervisor will lead our team of five that primarily assists our customers with their accounts, as well as being part of our leadership team in the Press Business Office.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervising CAST staff daily, meeting with them monthly, and training them when needed – having the ability to perform their daily functions if needed
  • Managing customer accounts which entails setting and reviewing credit limits, arranging payment plans, preparing promissory notes, and informing customers on how they can re-establish credit after they have been in a bad debt situation
  • Overseeing government funding for our customers
  • Daily reviewing orders in a credit hold and deciding on whether to allow more credit
  • Reviewing and approving bad debt write-offs, and approving those being referred to an outside collection agency
  • Filing Proof of Claim documentation when customers file for bankruptcy
  • Exercising tact and discretion while dealing with customers and their complaints
  • Managing special projects which entails communication with management members of our outside sales force
  • Preparing ad hoc reports as necessary for management
  • Assisting external auditors with annual business audits

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Accuracy with numbers and details
  • Knowledge of general office accounting practices
  • Ability to act with propriety and maintain confidentiality of business information
  • Ability to manage staff daily
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal departments, our outside sales force, and our customers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time
  • Negotiating skills
  • Two or more years business office supervision experience

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Good computer skills and ability to learn software programs
