ROLE SUMMARY: As a Course Assistant at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a role on the Digital Instruction team by creating and formatting presentation materials to support the preparation and delivery of educational content for an online video classroom experience.

About the Team: The purpose of the Digital Instruction team is to deliver engaging video instruction within the framework of video courses aligned with BJU Press educational content. The Digital Instruction team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by providing video content which engages students and helps educators provide a transformational educational experience.

Role Summary: As a Course Assistant at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a role on the Digital Instruction team by creating and formatting presentation materials to support the preparation and delivery of educational content for an online video classroom experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Create visually engaging and pedagogically sound PowerPoint presentations to support instructors during video lessons, ensuring alignment with course objectives and video standards
  • Prepare and format user-facing paperwork, including guides and instructional materials, to ensure consistency, readability, and ease of use
  • Gather and organize props required for video lessons, ensuring all materials are available and appropriately prepared for filming
  • Teleprompt during video shoots, ensuring smooth delivery of scripted content
  • Work closely with a team to produce video courses within established timelines and quality standards

  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information and collaborate across various teams

  • Demonstrates the ability to identify challenges, think critically, and implement practical solutions
  • Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and remain flexible in a dynamic work environment
  • Effective at managing time efficiently, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain a strong work ethic, showing reliability, accountability, and a commitment to excellence

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possesses an understanding of basic design principles
  • Demonstrates an understanding of current writing and grammar rules
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic computer skills and a willingness and ability to learn new computer skills
  • Associate’s degree with 1-2 YOE OR 1-2 YOE in a creative discipline OR equivalent demonstrated aptitude
