POSITION SUMMARY: As a Course Assistant in our Digital Instruction Department, you are part of a team that embraces the mission of producing K-12 educational materials with a biblical worldview for Christian schools and homeschools. Your workday focuses on supporting the digital education teachers in the preparation and delivery of educational content primarily within the framework of distance learning video courses but also across a variety of electronic platforms and in print.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble PowerPoint presentations using content from the BJU Press curriculum and teacher-generated notes
- Obtain digital images for use in PowerPoint
- Perform minor editing of digital images
- Collect props and other lesson materials
- Create supplemental materials such as lesson handouts and record-keeping documents
- Help develop preliminary course design
- Assist in research for lesson content
- Take and distribute the minutes for course team meetings
- Assist with writing test and quiz questions
- Assist in the studio during lesson recording or in special segments
- Assist with academic support for distance learning courses
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- General understanding of BJU Press educational philosophy
- General understanding of the subject matter being taught
- Understanding of sound educational methods for presenting information
- Understanding of the target audience (elementary, junior high, or high school)
- Organizational ability
- Attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate and function as a member of a production team
- Good computer skills and ability to learn new programs quickly
- InDesign, Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
