Position Summary: If you are good with details and enjoy digging for information and locating sources, you may be just the right person for our Permissions team. As a Permissions Specialist, you will receive requests for fonts, photos, and/or texts for use with BJU Press products. The goal is to research, document, and secure materials for use in BJU Press products while maintaining copyright compliance. You will be working with multiple departments from Communications to Press Digital and our growing team of Permissions Specialists to help BJU Press do everything we can so Christian education can do everything it must.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Receive permission requests for fonts, photos, and/or texts from the Permissions Manager for current projects and reprint projects
- Research all requests for current and reprint projects
- Contact outside vendors and acquire permission and contracts to use the onts, photos, and/or texts
- Obtain checks and pay outside companies if there is a cost
- Obtain permissions for Content Development in a timely manner
- Keep track of ongoing contract issues, such as dates for contract renewals on Excel charts
- Document and file all correspondence and information for each project
- Acquire permissions for Distance Learning Online, eBooks, and Look-In-The-Book websites
- Be aware of copyright/trademark laws
- Assist with other departmental tasks as needed
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Experience in filing, letter writing and paying bills
- Some knowledge of copyright/trademark law is preferred
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to remember data and procedures
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
- Experience in internet searching
- Experience in filing, letter writing and paying bills
- This is an on-site position.
