Communications Specialist

Position Summary: Works with the Director and Associate Director of Alumni Relations to strategize Alumni communications. Responsible for execution and project management of communications to alumni. Expected to coordinate communications with other departments as they reach out to alumni.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

General Communications Responsibilities

  • Coordinates mailings and communications with Advancement office and other internal departments
  • Coordinates with Alumni Relations Events Specialist regarding communication plan for events (includes basic design work for posters, programs, invitations, etc.)

Content Development

  • Manages social media
    • Creates social media strategy and communication plan in coordination with the director and associate director
    • Executes social media plan
  • Coordinates the Voice of the Alumni newsletter under the editorial direction of the director and associate director
  • Strategizes and executes all promotions in coordination with the director and associate director
  • Manages website, under guidance from the director and associate director
    • Content management and updates
    • Coordinate with Marketing for overall management

AlumNation Coordination

  • Executes processes and communications for AlumNation as needed, under the guidance of the director and associate director

General Office Duties

  • Assists in all Alumni Relations events and programs as needed: set up/tear down, hosting, etc.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Required Experience: 1-2 years related experience
