Position Summary: Reporting directly to the VP Business and Finance, the Chief Accounting Officer provides leadership for managing the people, processes and technology comprising the financial functions for BJU and other entities for which BJU serves as financial manager by contract (e.g. BJU Education Group), on a separate entity basis and in combination if required.


  • Financial Leadership – Offers strategies and solutions that contribute to the realization of departmental and university goals and objectives. Collaborate with key operational and functional leaders across BJU to ensure the accuracy, integrity and overall pace at which transactional and other key data becomes available for use and to help them understand the financial position and performance of BJU.
  • Internal Accounting Controls - Establishes, evaluates, and maintains appropriate internal accounting controls and processes
  • Financial Systems - Coordinates with BJU’s Information Systems personnel to develop and maintain financial systems
  • General Accounting - Manages the processing of transactions into general and subsidiary ledgers
  • Treasury Management - Directs all treasury functions including banking systems, cash management programs, cash receipts and disbursements accounting, wire transfers, credit-card processing, regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Financial Reporting - Manages internal financial reporting related to management needs.
  • Audit and Tax - Manages external audits, tax functions,
  • Purchasing – Manages the BJU Purchasing function


  • High competency in technical and professional accounting skills
  • Initiative and self-direction to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Excellent phone skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Supervisory experience in a professional accounting environment preferred

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree Required
Required Experience: Five or more years related experience
