POSITION SUMMARY: Assists in providing services to students and alumni in the areas of career coaching, planning, and job searching. Assists during major recruiting events, including the Career Fair and the Christian School Recruitment Conference. Markets department services through social media, personal networking, and email communications. Role begins August of 2025.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides resume advising assistance to students and alumni
- Provides career counseling to students and alumni covering topics in professional development, personal branding, networking, and job searching.
- Represents Career Services at Career Workshops (introducing and facilitating) and at university events.
- Gives class presentations on resume writing and other career-related topics.
- Uses Social Media to market Career Services' events, provide information, and raise awareness of the different career development services available to students and alumni.
- Creates or edits campus-wide email marketing communications using visuals and streamlined content to increase awareness of services and align with university brand.
- Assists in editing and maintaining the Career Services website (internet & intranet)
- Collaborates with Marketing Communications department to create and edit content and approve design for promotional signs, handouts, and other marketing media.
- Assists with recruiting events
- Provides front office reception support for Career Services.
- Responds to student, alumni, and employer inquiries regarding job searching and job posting assistance.
- Encourages students and alumni to utilize university Career Services resources such as the Career Services website, Career Central, networking and professional development events, and Resume Advising.
- First Destination Survey follow-up.
- Performs other duties as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in MS Word and PowerPoint
- Ability to learn new programs quickly and proficiently
- Strong English language and grammar skills, including writing, proofreading, and editing
- Close attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong organization skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to relate well to students, staff, faculty, and the general public in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner
- Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within an office setting
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Prefer previous work experience in an office setting
- Experience using Canva
