University Journalism and Mass Communication Faculty

Position Summary: Join the Division of Communication faculty by providing instruction to students taking courses in the Journalism and Mass Communication Department. A successful candidate will have the ability to teach courses in areas such as public relations, advertising, multimedia, and/or journalism from a biblical worldview. The ideal candidate should be able to integrate profession-based learning experiences into the courses via field experiences or projects. A strong candidate can teach both undergraduate and graduate courses and will have additional areas of expertise (such as digital media, mobile communications, social media, and other applied elements of mass mediated communications).


  • Teach various introductory, intermediate and advanced courses in public relations and/or advertising, multimedia, and journalism.
  • Help students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; maintaining thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her regular teaching field; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Communicate the religious beliefs of BJU to students and student affiliates
  • Answer questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU
  • Provide department, division, and university service, including student organization assistance and sponsorship

  • Demonstrate organizational abilities in teaching and classroom management
  • Possess and communicate a Biblical worldview and integrate biblical principles into subject matter

  • Committed to staying current in fields relevant to various classes taught.

Required Education: Master's degree in teaching field required, Terminal Degree preferred
Required Experience: Teaching experience preferred
