Elementary STEM Teacher/Child Care Instructor and Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: Team teach STEM class for 1st-5th grade during the school day. Train and Supervise BJU Education majors and their work in a childcare setting. Plan and organize activities for 1st-5th graders in after school childcare.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team Teach STEM Program
    • Organize tasks and materials for STEM Projects
    • Teach 3 classes a day
    • Demonstrate classroom management skills
    • Effectively incorporate a positive behavior system
  • Supervise and train BJU student workers
    • Interview and hire university student employees for after-school childcare
    • Train workers in classroom management and behavior system
    • Create weekly work schedules
  • Supervise After School Childcare for Students
    • Create and organize activities
    • Provide a loving, safe, Christ-honoring environment
    • Communicate care and concerns with parents
    • Point students to God’s Word as conflicts arise

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Organizational Skills
  • Time Management
  • Counseling and discipleship abilities
  • Communication and customer relations skills
  • Teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience with elementary-aged children preferred.
  • Teaching license preferred

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Must be comfortable in a digital environment and able to learn the school management systems
