BJA Elementary Assistant Principal

POSITION SUMMARY: Assist BJA elementary principal with supervision of the elementary school—grades 1-6 and perform service duties as needed within the elementary school and Bob Jones Academy.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Observe, counsel, and discipline students as necessary
  • Assist in maintaining good communications with the faculty, parents, students, and community
  • Coordinate building maintenance, set up, and repairs in the elementary school
  • Assist elementary principal in overseeing elementary school budget
  • Oversee textbook orders and textbook edition changes at the elementary school level
  • Oversee elementary school late stay program
  • Oversee car line and early stay
  • Assume principal’s responsibilities at the elementary school when principal unavailable
  • Manage elementary school elementary programs and programs as assigned by the elementary principal
  • Assist with coordination of transportation for elementary school trips
  • Assist in the elementary school chapel program
  • Assist in interviewing prospective students and their parents (responsibility shared with principal)
  • Work with elementary principal to establish extra duties annually
  • Propose annual faculty extracurricular duties to the elementary principal
  • Assist principal in establishing ES schedules
  • Propose annual update of and maintain elementary school faculty handbook
  • Assist with oversight of elementary technology equipment and programs; propose advancement and improvements
  • Assist elementary principal with faculty observations
  • As assigned, conduct elementary school sessions for teacher inservice
  • Assist in coordinating elementary school Back-to-School Night
  • Serve on BJA’s administrative council
  • Assist elementary principal in other duties assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent communication skills in the classroom and interpersonally with students, faculty, and parents
  • Organizational abilities in school management
  • Ability to integrate biblical principles in school activities
  • Exemplify a biblical role model for students and colleagues
  • Wide knowledge of technological equipment and programs, including devices, projectors, PCs, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Excel beneficial
  • CDL for driving school bus would be beneficial
  • Committed to personal professional development

Required Education: Master's degree in related area preferred
Required Experience: Three to four years related experience
