Biblical Studies & Theology Faculty

Position Summary: The individual in this position shall function as a full professor in the faculty of the School of Religion (and, as needed, in the Seminary). He will be assigned to teach courses commensurate with his qualifications. He may also be tasked with special initiatives or given oversight or involvement in projects or areas deemed helpful to the strengthening and growth of the School of Religion.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To teach courses in biblical studies and theology and other subject areas as appropriate to his qualifications
  • To be familiar with School of Religion programs and advise students accordingly
  • To provide guidance to students regarding pastoral and church-related ministry
  • To be involved in the personal growth and mentoring of students in the School of Religion and Seminary
  • To assist in the recruitment and overall growth of the academic programs
  • To collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development and improvement
  • To initiate intentional, ongoing professional growth
  • Communicate the religious beliefs and represent policies of BJU to students and student affiliates
  • Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine and creed of BJU to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJU

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Passion about the mission of BJU
  • Ability to self-lead and manage multiple ongoing projects and courses and organize responsibilities
  • Effective oral and written communication
  • Reliance on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Initiative, self-motivation and a strong work ethic
  • Strong administrative skills

Required Education: PhD
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
