Audio Visual Specialist

Position Summary: The Audio Visual Specialist would be responsible for configuration and maintenance of Audio/Visual systems on campus which would include configuring the network on devices and preparing the devices for deployment. This position will help create documentation and provide training for end users. This position involves equal parts computer work and assisting with installation or field work. The ideal candidate for this position is computer savvy and a problem-solver who can think outside the box. This is an ideal position for someone considering pursuit of CTS certification. There may be opportunities to attend conferences, training, and workshops in other cities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain classroom projectors, TVs, security cameras, digital signage, UPS systems
  • Configure and maintain, Extron control systems and DSPs
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Extron GVE Database
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain camera NVRs and set up new users
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain wireless screen sharing devices (Mersive Solstice and ScreenBeam)
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain video conferencing systems (Zoom and Teams rooms)
  • Assist with audio visual and low voltage cabling installs as needed
  • Create and maintain documentation and records
  • Maintain technical proficiency through continuing formal and self-training
  • Occasionally lead a team of student employees to complete designated tasks

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Aptitude to learn new technologies
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical systems
  • Willingness to stay with a project through completion
  • Dedicated person devoted to a task or purpose with loyalty and integrity preferred
  • Good analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Available to be on call during off hours
  • Detail-oriented person capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well preferred

Additional Programs (preferred): 

  • Basic Python scripting
  • Experience working with JSON data
  • Basic Networking
  • Familiar with Windows, Apple, and Linux operating systems
  • Extron Global Configurator Plus
  • Extron DSP Configurator
  • Bose Controlspace
  • Experience with Zoom Rooms and/or Teams Rooms is a plus

Certificates & Licenses:

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License Required
  • Avixa AV Technologist Certificate preferred
  • Avixa CTS Certification preferred
  • Extron AV Associate preferred
  • Extron Pro DSP Specialist preferred
  • Extron Control Specialist preferred
  • Dante Level I preferred

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience: Three to four years related experience
