Audio Visual Lead Technician

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the physical support and installation for Audio/Visual systems and Low Voltage cabling on campus. This person will need to lead a team of student workers and instruct them in how to complete the installation. The ideal candidate for this position is organized and enjoys working with their hands, enjoys not only fixing things that are broken, but also enjoys making the user experience better. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who is familiar with Audio Visual technologies and wants to increase their experience and exposure to different systems and installation processes. This is an ideal position for someone considering pursuit of a CTS certification. There may be opportunities to attend conferences, training, and workshops in other cities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and install classroom projectors, classroom audio, TVs, security cameras, digital signage, video conferencing, and small to medium UPS systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshot, install, and terminate low voltage cabling including fiber and network cable as needed
  • Maintain, install, and cable manage network and AV racks
  • Assist in installation or troubleshooting of various electronic equipment on campus as needed
  • Create and maintain records and reports
  • Maintain technical proficiency through continuing formal and self-training
  • Lead a team of student employees to complete designated tasks

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficiency with hand/power tools, low voltage wiring, trim-out and installation of wall and ceiling mounts
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Aptitude to learn new technologies
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical systems
  • Willingness to stay with a project through completion

Required Education: Associate's Degree
Required Experience: One to two years related experience
