Assistant Manager, Distribution Center

ROLE SUMMARY: As an Assistant Manager at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the Distribution Center team by assisting the Sr. Manager in overseeing all distribution functions, including order processing, picking, packing, shipping, and receiving. These functions are stream-lined through multiple supervisors and department leads that report directly to the Sr. Manager and will be the responsibility of the Assistant Manager in the absence of the Sr. Manager, including during shiftwork hours when the Sr. Manager is not present. Also, as an Assistant Manager at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the Management team by aligning with the Vision and mission of BJU Press.

About the Team: The purpose of the Distribution Center team is to meet the immediate and future needs of customers by processing orders quickly and accurately for a timely delivery. The Distribution Center team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by providing superior services and gaining/retaining customer trust and satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Work with Sr. Manager to ensure all daily operational functions in the Distribution Center remain smooth and productive
  • Coordinate with Shipping Supervisor/Leads to assess order processing and determine areas that need improvement
  • Assist with inventory management to optimize stock levels, reduce excess inventory, and enhance turnover rates while ensuring product availability
  • Work with other Press departments to help ensure efficiency in fulfilling orders
  • Provide key performance indicators that will help with decision making
  • Organize and maintain office files/records and approve payment for invoices
  • Support Sr. Manager in the hiring/processing/preparation for new employees
  • Assist Sr. Manager with timesheet corrections and PPT/Sick Time requests
  • Maintain official PDC calendar and current work schedules
  • Order and maintain adequate supplies for office and other departments as needed
  • Organize and maintain PDC office and assist with other areas as necessary
  • Communicate messages and distribute incoming mail as necessary
  • Assist PDC Manager with other tasks as necessary
