Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Position Summary: Responsible for assisting the Director by overseeing established financial aid programs and key financial aid office functions while adhering to all regulations with integrity and upholding the mission of Bob Jones University. Supports and works closely with the Director of Financial Aid to provide oversight for all aspects of the operation of the office of financial aid. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain compliance with all current regulations by participating in regular training, overseeing key office functions required by federal deadlines with disbursement of Title IV funds, resolving eligibility questions, reviewing compliance issues, and updating and evaluating current office policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate delivery of financial aid to student accounts by overseeing the disbursement of aid to student accounts along with key office functions that are critical to the accuracy of financial aid's management system.
  • Provide timely financial aid packages to students by overseeing the awarding of student aid packages and the setup/delivery of aid packages in collaboration with the Director.
  • Meet financial aid deadlines of federal, state, Veterans Affairs, institutional and athletic organizations when requested by assisting the Director with the creation and review of required reports including institutional aid reports, audit reports, athletic reviews, and data reports for external college information reporting.
  • Maintain established student aid programs by overseeing Federal Work-Study and the setup and awarding of endowed institutional aid in collaboration with the Director.
  • Maintain unity and continuity within the office by providing leadership and supervision to the office in the absence of the Director, overseeing the onboarding of new office hires, and overseeing the documentation of standard operating procedures of office staff.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction and confidence by providing financial aid counseling to students and parents as needed.

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated service aptitude and ability to work independently as well as with students, parents, and collegues
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion
  • Proven ability to use multiple software systems as well as to learn new systems as required
  • An up-to-date working knowledge of the Financial Aid field is imperative for success in this position
  • Experience with PowerFAIDS financial aid management system preferred

 

Required Education: Bachelors Degree
Required Experience: Three to four years related experience
