As the AHE Guidance Counselor, you will do this by preparing transcripts, report cards, and checksheets as well as offering academic guidance to students and parents. There are also many opportunities to interact with both parents and students including AHE's annual Jr. class trip and annual graduation ceremony. You will be part of a team assisting homeschool families with general homeschooling and AHE support by phone and email.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Verify accuracy of parent-submitted student grades.
  • Review and approve elective courses and credits.
  • Process report cards for all grades at the end of grading periods.
  • Process high school transcripts upon request.
  • Process high school check sheets each grading period.
  • Record student ACT/SAT scores.
  • Provide academic counseling via phone, email, and in person.
  • Participate in AHE's annual graduation activities.
  • Participate in AHE's annual Jr. class trip.
  • Use multiple platforms to meet student needs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good English and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of standard office practices and equipment
  • Counseling ability
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills; detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with BJU Press materials
  • Familiarity with educational development
  • Strong people skills and good customer relations over the phone
  • Bachelor's in Education required. Secondary Education is preferred.
  • Master's in Guidance Counseling or Educational Administration preferred.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
