Photographer (Student)

POSITION SUMMARY: Photograph campus life and anything where photos are required. On campus residence is preferred to enable access when weather or other events restrict travel.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Photograph BJU and BJA sports, candid campus life, and portraits for web distribution, Vintage, and the Academian
  • Edit photo shoots to choose the best images for BJU and BJA use
  • Add metadata and catalog all images to be kept
  • Edit individual photos to add impact while keeping within printing protocol on color and exposure
  • Track and find images in a database
  • Communicate professionally with clients and coworkers
  • Keep a calendar and records to maintain perfect, on-time attendance to photo shoots
  • Edit client selected photos for publication
  • Assist with printing and packaging photos for clients
  • Maintain flexible hours to include evenings and weekend photo shoots
  • Must (occasionally) lift/carry and/or push/pull up to 100 lbs.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be enrolled as a student at Bob Jones University  
  • MUST have photographic skills; including a working knowledge of exposure, color, and lighting
  • Resident photo students are preferred
  • Must have a desire to learn more about lighting
  • MUST be able and willing to use a flash
  • People skills are desired as photographers are called upon to speak to large groups of guests, alumni, and campus leaders
  • MUST have a working understanding and ability of post-production software: Lightroom and Photoshop
  • Portfolio displaying excellent images of candid life, sport coverage, and portrait abilities is expected at interview (Electronic portfolio is acceptable)
