POSITION SUMMARY:  Provide undergraduate student instruction in professional photography from a Christian worldview.


  • Teach assigned courses (including class preparation, producing course materials, grading, contest judging, and other related teaching activities).
  • Maintain course syllabi and appropriate class content on BJUOLINE and intranet.
  • Be available to meet with students enrolled in courses to assist and advise them in successfully fulfilling course requirements and learning outcomes.
  • Substitute teach for other photography classes from time to time as unforeseen scheduling conflicts or health issues arise.


  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with contemporary professional photography.
  • Demonstrate a mastery of all professional photographic technical and creative skills including: conceptual preproduction, production and postproduction processes.
  • Own and operate a successful photography business. Demonstrating a high level of business acumen as related to a photograph business.
  • Prove a high level of skill in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom.
  • Master of off camera strobe lighting aesthetic and equipment.
  • Communicate a clear understanding of the history of photography and its impact on modern practices.
  • Familiarity with modern high-profile professional image-makers and understanding of industry challenges and contemporary conversations in the field.
  • Mastery of modern photographic equipment both camera operation and professional lighting equipment.
  • Actively produce new photographic work of both a commercial (retail) nature and creative fine art nature (gallery).
  • Possess and communicate a biblical worldview and integrate biblical principles into the contemporary issues of modern photography.
  • Exhibit organizational abilities in teaching and classroom management.
  • Be professional in appearance and presentation.
  • Exemplify a biblical role model for students and colleagues.

Required Education: Master's Degree
Required Experience: Five or more years related experience
